Moscow Restaurants and Moscow Dining
(Moscow, Central Federal District, Russia, RU)
Restaurants are spread all over Moscow and many quality dining options are usually never far from the main hotels. The cafe scene in Moscow is currently thriving and pastries and coffee are a good alternative to a hotel breakfast. Look out for cafes around the Belarusskaya Vokzal, the Malaya Bronnaya Ulitsa and the Ulitsa Pyatnitskaya.
For Sunday dining, head to one of the restaurants at the luxury hotels around central Moscow. Here you will be able to spend your time leisurely tucking in to a sumptuous range of international cuisines and sometimes a buffet spread.
If you have chosen to self-cater during in your stay in Moscow, rather than regularly dining out at restaurants, then the Russian food markets (rynky) will be for you. These entertaining spaces are also perfect if you are simply looking for the ingredients to make a good picnic. Many supermarkets are also located all over Moscow, including 24-hour stores and familiar Western brands.
Moscow Restaurants and Dining: Where to Eat - Moscow, Russia, RU
McDonald's fast-food restaurants are everywhere in Moscow, so if you prefer a quick burger and fries to traditional Russian fare, then you won't go hungry. The original and most famous branch is located along the Bolshaya Bronnaya Ulitsa.
A good choice of restaurants are scattered around Moscow city centre, along streets such as Baumanskaia Ulitsa, Tverskaia-Iamskaia Ulitsa, and Strastnoi Bul'var, a hilly part of this city with good views. The Ulitsa 1905 Goda also contains more than its fair share of dining options and this part of Moscow is perhaps best known for being home to the family friendly Shinok restaurants. Here you will find traditional Ukrainian cuisine next to a central courtyard where various farmyard animals live.
Many further restaurants lie within the Boulevard Ring and fine dining can be found along stretches such as Bolshoi Kislovskii Pereulok, Kuznetskii Most Ulitsa, Tverskaia Ulitsa and Stoleshnikov Pereulok, where French-style bistros are just minutes from the Bolshoi Theatre. Plenty of dining venues are also located inside the Garden Ring area, and along the Smolenskaia Ploshchad, the European-style Panorama restaurant is worth searching out and is situated high up in the Golden Ring Hotel and boasts excellent panoramas of the Moscow cityscape and the Moskva River.
Of course, the restaurants around the Kremlin building and Red Square tend to offer the most iconic views and are always buzzing with tourists looking for the ultimate dining option. The Krasnaia Ploshchad is a good place to start your quest and offers tantalising glimpses of St. Basil's Cathedral. The nearby Moscow History Museum (Muzei Istorii Goroda Moskvy) features a good restaurant, while further eateries line the Klimentovsky Pereulok and often offer a strong Ukrainian theme.
